Brief Description |
The Communities without Borders project is being undertaken by the ICT4D Jamaica through its Community Development and E-governance track. The project has the following objectives:
1.Build the capacity of 3 rural communities to:
a.create, disseminate, in traditional public education sessions as well as on radio and cable television, a range of multi-media products;
b. manage a Community Multimedia Centre(CMC) as a socially and economically sustainable enterprise within a community development framework
2.Establish 3 CMCs to facilitate on-going access to multi-media training, and to provide general support for community information, communication and training needs.
3.Build capacity within the Container Project to develop local content training materials for multi-media skills
4. Develop a network of public, private and not-for-profit organizations, and individuals, both local and overseas, to provide on-going support (knowledge and information sharing, business linkages) for each community?s identified needs
5. Document the end-to-end processes involved in the establishment and operationalization of the CMCs and disseminate as case studies to share the lessons learnt locally and internationally.
